Thanks, DL. The personal blogging is migrating to Uber so I can have the business blog here. It's made for some time constraints and holding of posts until we launch. Launch was scheduled for this weekend, but the best laid plans of mice and men....as soon as the server language is resolved, we'll be up and running. :)

Thank you for leaving a comment, Harry.:) I'll do my best to behave professionally and not like a huge fan (which, of course, I am!) I can be both, right?

The registry keys were, for me, the worst part of the whole thing after just plain fear. Thanks to your posts and my own experience, I have a nifty new external drive, a couple new flash drives, and am today shopping for new anti virus protection. Thanks for the tip on PC Tools Spyware Doctor.

And thanks again for commenting!

BJ,

I hear you, too! A few years ago when I first built this computer I wanted to use something other than the usual virus programs that came with it. Yes, McAffee drives me nuts. I found one called "WinGuard" or something like that. I thought it was made by Windows.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

I was duped. It put malware on my comp that over the next couple of years got so embedded in my computer and resulted in my first call to the Geeks.

I had tried to remove the thing myself and the more I searched for fixes, the more my heart sank as I found out that many other people had been taken in by this Windows impostor.

It screwed up my Regestery keys and a few other things I never would have been able to fix on my own.

After that, I went with PC Tools Spyware Doctor and their Regestery Mechanic and haven't looked back since.

Excellent post, BJ and thanks for the link!
