Characters & Crash Tests
So, while I’m off evaluating how I spend my time and how that spending is or is not meeting writing goals, here are a couple things to share.
Holly Lisle, an established author, has several websites, online classes, a newsletter, and more. Recently she began posting videos of writing crash tests, explaining what could be done with a piece of writing to make it better. There are three up so far, each of them with examples and explanations on why changes were made to the existing examples. Check it out when you have time.
I also liked her Writing Diary entry of May 12th titled Shoes and Handbags. It was a good reminder as I flesh out my current cast of characters. I have to respect my heroines. If I don’t like them, I can’t write them well and my feelings for them show. It’s a post worth reading for all fiction writers, though potentially not suitable for children.

Holly is awesome! My friend Amy is a big supporter of hers. I’ve thought of doing her classes, but I don’t have the money at the moment. Thanks for sharing!
