About
I am as passionate about the benefits of journaling as I am the writing process itself…so passionate, in fact, that my business both sells journals and provides information for anyone interested in writing or keeping a journal. I’ve kept a journal for 23 years and have a personal goal of 140 handwritten pages a month. Okay, I confess. I can get really long winded in my journal.
I’m a human (last I checked), female (says my birth certificate), married (my husband says so!) with two grown children (my joy), and a crazy, hectic life (hey! I’m normal!).
I’ve been writing since I was old enough to hold a crayon. Back then, my literary efforts were subject to several punishments since I liked to write them on whatever was handy…the cupboards, my grandfather’s newspaper, the china cabinet, and even my brother.
I eventually got the hang of using paper and have continued this deep addiction to paper and pen ever since. I’m what Natalie Goldberg refers to as a “process writer.” I use writing to process life, events, emotions, thoughts, and goals. I must write. If I couldn’t write, I would quite literally end up in a padded cell, I’m afraid.
In 2007 I had a harsh wake up call in the form of failing health and a nearly fatal bout with pneumonia. I spent a lot of time thinking about life and what I desired most. My children are grown. If I intended to pursue writing, now was the time. I began to sketch out the steps toward fulfilling a promise I made to myself 20 years ago. I have a day job that pays the bills. Every other moment of my life is dedicated to laying words down on paper.
I’d like to publish, of course. Whether it happens or not, I will have fulfilled part of my reason for being in blogs, web sites, essays, and studies.
I’m on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Shoutlife. I would love to get to know you!
