Works in Progress
This is a tentative title only. I’ve done so many covers for this and am still not sure of it. However, the story is set in 1952, in NE California. There’s something mysterious in the mountain that, until now, sheltered the small town of Gold Hill. Four teens feel an irresistible tug from the cave, forbidden to all for the belief that it is full of poison gas. It isn’t gas the kids need to worry about. It’s also a coming of age story from Gold Hill’s outcast child, Lillian.

I’m going with the working title Shattered instead of Surrender.
What if God allowed your worst fear to happen? What if it was worse than you ever imagined?
Liz Cabot is a modern woman. She runs her own business, pursues the odd hobby, and is married to a modern man. She is Successful with a capital S. But there is a darker side to Liz’s life. She is a workaholic who fears dependence and lack of control more than she fears death. Liz believes everyone will reject and hate her if she ever dropped the balls she juggles daily.
The worst day of her life began with small irritations, progressed to major losses, and ended in a life changing event that will cause her to reevaluate everything she thought she knew, including the One she calls God.
Liz will have to face the things she fears most…loss of love, loss of independence, loss of control over herself or her circumstances. She will have to surrender in every way imaginable to survive.

Song of the Elements: Novel (fantasy) in which “magic” is drawn from the three elements of air, fire, and water. No one teaches about earth these days. Earth magic has been relegated to “myth.” That is, until an area of wild magic forms over a meadow, a magic unlike anything the elementalists have seen before.

Allegory, Kingdom of Light: The ending is still hiding from me. The writing style took a lot of work so it would have the tone I wanted. It reads like a story from an ancient scroll or a fable. The first thing my son said was “your style really needs work.” Took me a bit to convince him I did it on purpose. Then he says “oh, well in that case, it’s pretty good.”
Your Writing Process: (E-Book) Outlines and rough drafts for each section are complete. The first three chapters approach the finished stage.
